Articles on: Using Your Card

What should I do if I suspect fraud on my Halocard?

If you believe a transaction may be fraudulent, act immediately. Locking your card and contacting support helps prevent further charges and protects your account.

Step 1: Secure your card

As soon as you suspect fraud:

  1. Lock the affected Halocard immediately to stop further transactions
  2. Contact Halocard support so we can assist

Step 2: Review the transaction

Before assuming fraud, review the transaction details:

  • Review the merchant name, as some businesses bill under a different name (i.e. a parent company)
  • Check whether the amount or date matches a recent purchase, subscription, or trial
  • Look for duplicate charges, which may be pending or reversed
  • Confirm whether anyone else with access to the card could have made the purchase

If the charge appears to be a billing issue rather than fraud, see: How can I dispute a transaction and request a chargeback?

When a charge may be fraudulent

A charge may be fraudulent if:

  • You do not recognise the merchant at all
  • The amount is clearly wrong
  • You are confident the purchase was not made by you or anyone authorised

What happens next

Once you contact support, we’ll review the transaction, help secure your account, and guide you on next steps. Depending on the situation, this may include raising a dispute or issuing a replacement card.
